"Fitness and a full belly!" as Mr. Doug Marshall, principal at Delta Middle School, said. Sounds great, right? Who wouldn’t like to get fit and get a full belly, and what if you could do both of those while also helping children in need?

On Saturday, Feb. 3rd at 10 a.m. DMS will be having its first annual Chilly Bowl, which is a chili cook-off, a 5K run/walk, and a vendor fair.

Profits will help DMS students with the cost of field trips.

Teacher Morgan Jones, who sponsors the sixth grade field trip, said she and other trip sponsors such as Shayla Shirk (seventh grade) and Angela Decker (eighth grade) “knew that we needed to do something to make the field trips more affordable for our students because the prices for our buses have dramatically increased this year.”

If chili is not your thing, there are no worries. There will be a 5K run/walk starting at 10 a.m. with check-in at the gym. Adults pay $15 and children K-12 pay $10. Smaller children five and under will be free.

All runners will receive admission to the vendors fair and chili cook-off.

The vendor fair will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors have paid $25 per table to sell their items. There will be many exhibits, including Mrs. Erica Pluimer, DHS math teacher, with a Tupperware table, and Mrs. Mackenzie Dye-Conley, DHS child development teacher, with a LipSense table.

The chili cook-off will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the DMS cafeteria. You can enter the contest for free, but if you want to sample and vote, the cost is $5. The overall chili winner will receive a gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings.
